Police in Green Bay have released their crime report for 2024.
The Green Bay Police Department’s annual report has shown that crime as a whole dropped last year.
However, certain violations were up compared to 2023.
In the city, crimes reported against property significantly decreased 11 percent, with 2,809.
Other positive changes saw homicides drop by nearly 67 percent while overdoses fell by 63 percent, with only nine being fatal, compared to 44 fatal overdoses in 2023.
However, one of the only numbers that increased in 2024 was crimes against persons, increasing by 18 percent to 1,732.
Despite that increase, Green Bay PD has revealed that the 6,308 crimes reported last year are good enough for a 1.58 percent decrease in total crime in 2024 compared to the 6,409 reported in 2023.
With the release of the annual crime report, Police Chief Chris Davis said, “We are making steady progress in the right direction. While we recognize there is still much work to be done, the decrease in overall crime serves as a clear testament to the dedication of Green Bay Police Department’s sworn and professional staff.”
