
Grant money from the state of Wisconsin will go toward helping counties and groups with Specialized Transit Programs, including in eastern Wisconsin.
Manitowoc County is getting over $180,000 for a new bus for transit and funding for the Manitowoc Mobility Manager.
The city will have to match some of the funds to get the grants. Sheboygan County is also getting more than $40,000 to help pay for a volunteer driver for their mobility program.
The nonprofit New Hope Center in Chilton is getting more than $231,000 for mobility management, operating assistance, and vehicle replacement.
Governor Tony Evers’ office says the $6.3 million for all 58 agencies will continue to, “work to make sure Wisconsinites across our state can get from Point A to Point B safely, no matter where they live in Wisconsin. Access to transportation is a key part of connecting the dots to make sure folks can get to where they need to go, whether it’s work, medical appointments, or the grocery store, or accessing the critical services they need.”
