Middle school students in Plymouth have won a contest through the American Legion.
Riverview Middle School students Nicholas Wasilewski and Elizabeth Haucke earned the top spots in the Poppy Poster contest held by the American Legion Auxiliary Ladewig-Zinkgraf Unit 243.
Nicholas took home first place for his artwork and will now advance as a finalist in the running for the statewide competition.
Elizabeth, and Annika Graf of Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Elementary who took third, both took home monetary prizes for their poster designs.
The competition was open to students at Riverview, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, St. John’s Lutheran School, and St. John the Baptist Catholic School.
The Poppy Poster contest is held to promote the efforts of the American Legion Auxiliary units who distribute poppies annually on both Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
