The man accused of hitting a woman with a duffle bag is free on bond.
30-year-old Tyler Deveaux was given a $1,000 recognizance bond on charges of Disorderly Conduct with a Domestic Violence Order, and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
A witness reported seeing Deveaux hit the woman with the bag outside of St. James Episcopal Church at around 2:30 Thursday morning.
The officers spoke with the two people involved, and the victim explained they had gotten into an argument, so she locked herself in their vehicle.
Deveaux climbed through the trunk, grabbed the bag, and swung it at her, calling her derogatory names.
As a part of his bond, Deveaux was ordered to have no abusive or assaultive contact with the victim.
He is due back in court on April 10th for his initial appearance.
