A Manitowoc Lincoln student is looking to help support the SeehaferNews.com fundraiser for Old Glory Honor Flight.
Ashton Buck is the “Mission Commander” for the event he is calling “Set Sail for Old Glory Honor Flight” where he is calling on his fellow students to help our nation’s heroes.
He received support from Seehafer Broadcasting as well as American Legion Post 477, the Manitowoc County Fair, and the Manitowoc County Civil War Round Table to collect prizes for the students to win.
“We are going to have a big raffle,” he explained. “We are going to do $5 for one ticket…$20 for ten tickets. You write your name on the ticket, you put it in, and every Friday for three weeks we will call off names.”
The prizes range Kwik Trip gift cards ranging from $20 to $100, tickets to sporting and music events, as well as passes to Mount Olympus Waterpark.
Principal Micah Hoffman called the idea “an ambitious undertaking”, but couldn’t be more confident in Ashton.
“The adults…can work on these things, but in a school, we want to make as many things run by students as possible,” he noted. “I think the world underestimates high school kids as a whole, and may be all kids, and what they are capable of.”
The fundraiser will begin in early April and run through May.
Ashton says he hopes to raise $10,000, which will go towards SeehaferNews.com’s goal or raising $50,000 for Old Glory Honor Flight.
That amount would cover the cost to fill an entire plane with veterans, who would be taken to Washington D.C. to see the war monuments.
If you would like to donate to the cause, you can drop off donations at the Seehafer Broadcasting Studios, located at 3730 Mangin Street in Manitowoc.
