The woman accused of embezzling several thousand dollars from a local business is free on bond.
45-year-old Katherym Rodriguez of Manitowoc was given a $500 cash bond on charges of Theft by Fraud, and three counts of Forgery/Uttering.
The investigation into Rodriguez began in 2024 when the Owner of Darcy Woo Grooming told police they had hired her to handle their personal and business taxes in 2019.
Rodriguez allegedly filed the 2018, 2019, and 2020 individual taxes late, never filed the 2021 and 2022 taxes, and the 2023 taxes were filed after another accountant was hired to do what Rodriguez had not done.
Additionally, Rodriguez allegedly transferred over $43,000 from the victim’s account to her own, and only $1,780 was used to pay the business’s taxes.
As a part of her bond, Rodriguez was ordered to have no contact with the victim, their residence, or Darcy Woo Grooming, and to have no contact with the finances and accounts associated with Darcy Woo Grooming.
She is due in Court on March 24th for her initial hearing.
