The woman who said “Santa Muerte,” or the Saint of Death gifted her cars will proceed in her court case, for now.
According to court records, a Manitowoc County judge ordered proceedings to continue for 48-year-old Blanca Perez-Hernandez.
Judge Jerilyn Dietz felt that there was not sufficient evidence presented to impose on the 48-year-old’s civil rights any longer.
Dr. Ana Trepaso testified in court that, to a reasonable degree of professional certainty, Perez-Hernandez lacks the mentality to understand the proceedings and that receiving treatment would help.
Attorney Ann Larson argued that Perez-Hernandez did understand what was going on and that she has already been receiving treatment.
Judge Dietz scheduled a preliminary hearing for April 1st after finishing the competency hearing.
The 48-year-old Perez-Hernandez is facing two charges of 1st-degree reckless injury with a weapon after police say she slashed someone with a knife and almost hurt another person after trying to take license plates of cars.
Police say the Manitowoc woman claimed that the cars were gifted to her by the Saint of Death.
