A former Marquette University employee has been charged with fraud after allegedly using his position to stay in student housing for free.
Michael Gerard, who worked in the university’s Office of Residence Life, was granted permission to live in the Gilman Apartment Building due to his job.
However, he is accused of altering digital records to avoid paying rent.
University officials claim this fraudulent activity has been ongoing since 2014, costing Marquette more than $60,000.
Gerard faces two felony charges, and a university spokesperson confirmed that he is no longer employed there.
