A former mental health nurse in Monroe County is facing charges of sexual assault involving a patient under her care.
Melissa Knutson, who has been charged with four counts of Second-Degree Sexual Assault and one count of Obstruction, initially claimed in 2022 that she had been raped by the patient but did not report it out of fear of retaliation.
However, evidence, including messages and screenshots saved by the patient, contradicts her account.
Knutson was arrested last Friday and later posted a $2,500 cash bond on Monday.
