A Menasha man has been sentenced in a sexual abuse case in Manitowoc County.
Desmond E. McWilliams was found guilty due to a no contest plea on a charge of Child Enticement – Sexual Contact, while charges of Exposing a Child to Harmful Material and Possession of THC were dismissed but read into the record.
Judge Mark Rohrer withheld his sentencing and instead placed McWilliams on probation for three years while also requiring him to spend 90 days in the Manitowoc County Jail under the Huber Law.
McWilliams was arrested in July of 2023 after he attempted to meet with a 16-year-old girl for sex.
The police reports indicate he had contacted the girl via text messages and threatened to release photographs of the teen if she did not have sex with him.
As a part of his probation, McWilliams was ordered to maintain absolute sobriety, have no contact with the victim or anyone under 18 years old, and comply with the rules established by the sex offender registry.
