It was a tight battle for the top spot at the Earl Hebert Invite.
Thirteen teams converged on the JFK Fieldhouse at Manitowoc Lincoln High School on a day when Lincoln honored the 1980 state winners.
The Ships earned a team win, 4.5 points better than runner up Manitowoc Lutheran.
Winnebago Academy, Appleton East, and Luxemburg-Casco rounded out the top five, while Two Rivers was 9th, followed by Chilton, Kewaunee, and Roncalli.
Despite the runner-up team finish, the Lancers earned four event victories, including Gabriel Stuebs claiming the 400-meter dash. Lincoln’s Lucas Gallegos was third in that event.
Jacob Kanzenbach earned a gold medal for the Lancers in the 800-meter run, followed by teammate James Glodowski and Lincoln’s Benjamin Mleziva, while the Lancers’ 4×200-meter relay team of Jacob Kanzenbach, Isah Muchka, Gabriel Stuebs, and Issac Wagner also picked up a win.
They were followed by Lincoln’s Lucas Gallegos, Seth Charles, Rhys Woodfill, and Landon Zick, and Drew Reimer, Atley Flores, Elliot Onesti, Matthew Pauwels from Two Rivers.
Lutheran’s Trenton Schuettpelz also earned a win in the triple jump, edging out Lincoln Senior Julien Bailey by only 7 inches.

The JFK will be filled again today as the Manitowoc Lincoln girls track and field team opens the indoor portion of their season, hosting the Pam Kjono Invite.
Teams scheduled to compete include Roncalli, Manitowoc Lutheran. Two Rivers. Mishicot, Sheboygan Falls, Chilton, Kewaunee, Plymouth, Luxemburg-Casco, Ozaukee, Kimberly, and Winnebago Lutheran Academy of Fond Du Lac.
The competition is scheduled to get underway at 4:00 p.m.
