Governor Tony Evers traveled to Sheboygan last week to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Lakeshore Regional Child Advocacy Center (CAC) held the ceremony on Thursday (March 27th) to celebrate the opening of its brand-new Downtown location in the city.
Governor Evers joined Mayor Ryan Sorenson, Sheboygan County Chamber CEO Diedre Martinez, Police Chief Kurt Zempel, and County Sheriff Matthew Spence as guest speakers at the event. Lakeshore Regional CAC, the state’s 16th child advocacy center, will provide critical support, forensic interviews, medical evaluations, and other services to children and their families.
The opening of the advocacy center is seen as a major plus for the Sheboygan community as 40 percent of all children the Lakeshore CAC serves across the state live in Sheboygan County.
Despite cutting the ribbon, Sheboygan’s Lakeshore CAC is still $200,000 from its estimated $2.5 million campaign goal.
