A native of Manitowoc was recently highlighted by Lakeland University.
Lakeland senior Maddy Rathsack and her educational journey have been used as an example of the success of the school’s Cooperative Education Program.
Rathsack, set to graduate in May, already secured post-graduation employment with CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) in 2024 following her second of three tax season internships.
The Cooperative Education Program allows students to earn academic credit and full-time employment in their field of study, simultaneously.
It also offers the opportunity for participants to earn 25 percent or 30 credits through the work they complete.
This is what Rathsack has done while using her wages earned from the program to pay her tuition not covered by scholarships, helping her to graduate debt-free.
During her internships with CLA, she has completed over 300 tax returns for residents and businesses.
On the program, the Roncalli High School graduate said, “Co-Op lets you earn credits, get the experience in your field that you may not get by just going to class and get paid. It helps you learn on the job by seeing how everything plays out and how it works.”
