A professor from UW Madison will be on hand for the next iteration of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum’s Think and Drink series.
Professor Emeritus in the Department of Integrative Biology and Director Emeritus of the Center for Limnology Dr. John J. Magnuson is slated to be the guest speaker for the program entitled “Lake Ice and the Loss of Winter”, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday (April 3rd).
During the presentation, Dr. Magnuson will explore how lake ice cover serves as a clear indicator of climate change, with Wisconsin’s inland lakes experiencing earlier ice breakup and, in some cases, failing to freeze over entirely.
Guests will also learn how lake ice loss threatens not only these pastimes but the Wisconsin identity as a whole.
The featured cocktail will be the CO2-ld Fashioned, a creative twist on the classic Old Fashioned.
Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for the free program, which can also be enjoyed via a live stream.
