It’s spring cleanup time at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
The city is asking lot owners to remove their winter decorations by April 15th, or they will be disposed of by cemetery staff.
Director of Public Infrastructure Dan Koski says beginning on May 15th, new decorations or flowers can be placed at gravesites, but no perennials or plants with thorns, thistles, or burs are allowed.
Annual flowers can be planted in baskets, urns, or on the flowerbed.
Koski also says with almost 30,000 graves to maintain, the support of families who observe the cemetery rules is greatly appreciated in order to help maintain Evergreen Cemetery’s park-like beauty.
If a plot owner is unable to remove items that they want to keep by the deadline, contact the cemetery office at evergree@manitowoc.org or leave a message at 920-686-3570.
