An extended road construction project in Sheboygan County is now underway.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that beginning this morning (March 31st), State Highway 32 from Union Avenue in Cedar Grove to Highway 28 in Sheboygan Falls will be closed and detoured.
During the first phase of construction, 9.9 miles of Highway 32 will be closed, and motorists will be detoured onto Interstate 43 and County Road V.
Phase one, which has begun today, is expected to last four to five months and will have crews conducting box culvert replacements.
These will be hard closures, meaning no drivers will be permitted to cross at each of the culvert crossings.
After phase one is completed, phase two will have additional culverts replaced. In addition to culvert replacements, the estimated $5.1 million project will also include resurfacing 32 as well.
As work is being done, the DOT asks drivers to pay attention to signage and to account for the road’s closure.
