A Republican rally was held in Manitowoc two days before the 2025 Spring General Election.
The Northeastern Wisconsin (NEW) Conservatives hosted a Save Wisconsin Rally inside the Holiday Inn hotel to stump for Wisconsin Supreme Court Candidate Brad Schimel.
Republican representatives, including 25th District Assemblyman Paul Tittl and Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu repeated the message, “This is the most important election“, which has received national attention for campaign donations for both Supreme Court candidates.
But statewide, Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Brad Schimming says this election is about redoing the congressional seat maps.
Schimming also told the crowd that liberals will make significant changes to the seats if they win.
“It’s about them getting rid of Act 10,” he stated. “Taxpayers have saved over $30 billion in this state because of Act 10, because of what Scott Walker did and the Republicans in the legislature did. School choice, charter schools, right to work, different voter ID protections, they are all on the chopping block.”
Another speaker who attended was Britney Kinser, who’s running for head of the Department of Public Instruction.
She said she had to get in the race after Incumbent Jill Underly said she would undue school choice.
Kinser told the crowd, “I’m the only candidate that believes that families should have the choice to send their child to the school they think best meets the needs of their child.”
Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson spoke in detail about the importance of race, but also talked about the good things Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, is doing at the federal level.
Johnson noted, “So when they uncover these grotesque examples of waste, fraud, and abuse, I mean, every American first of all ought to be outraged that their taxpayer money or maybe even worse, the borrowings, the debt, that that money is being wasted the way it is.”
Schimel was then introduced to the large crowd gathered and reexplained his reasons for getting in the race and talked about endorsements he’d gotten.
They include groups like the Wisconsin Bear Association, former Packers Quarterback Brett Favre, and President Donald Trump.
Schimel was asked some questions by the president including a few about so called “activist judges.”
“I said Mr. President, activist judges are the whole reason I’m in this race to stop them,” he explained.
He continued explaining his conversation saying, “He (Trump) wanted me to confirm for him, I’m going to follow the law, and not make the law. And that’s what I confirmed for him. And then he (Trump) said, Brad, I’ve watched how hard you been working at this, I’m aware you’ve run a hell of a race, and he said, you have my full and complete endorsement.”
After talking about negative attack ads against him and taking strikes against his opponent Susan Crawford, he told SeehaferNews.com that he’s learned a big thing on the campaign trail, that Wisconsinites love the Constitution.
“When you explain to them why courts making the law is not the right way to do it under our constitution, they agree,” he exclaimed. “So, I’ve learned they want to restore objectivity to the court. They want people to go to court and have a real shot at having a fair trial, a fair hearing by the (Wisconsin) Supreme Court, and not have it prejudged.”
There was a small group of protesters outside the event with Susan Crawford signs before the rally started.
The Manitowoc County Democrats hosted Liberal Justice Jill Karofsky at an event at their headquarters on Saturday (March 29th).
The 2025 race for Wisconsin Supreme Court has become the most expensive in history, with both sides putting millions of dollars to their respective candidates.
The General Election is tomorrow.
Polls open at 7:00 am.
