For local elections in Manitowoc, the mayor’s race is the big one on the ballot. Incumbent Justin Nickels is facing off against Businessman Jason Prigge.
There are also two contested aldermanic races. In Manitowoc’s 1st district, Incumbent Brett Vanderkin is running against Challenger Andrew Dunbar, while Incumbent Michael Cummings faces off against Angela Myers in the 3rd Aldermanic district.
There are also races in the 2nd, 7th, and 10th districts, but they are uncontested. Manitowoc Public School District residents have two things to vote for today.
They include three seats on the MPSD School Board. Six candidates are vying for three seats: Ann Holson, Mary Lofy Blahnik, David Bowman, Brayden Myer, Chrystal Myer, and Lisa Anne Krueger.
Voters will also decide if they want the district to borrow $25 million for districtwide improvements as part of a referendum.
In Two Rivers, there is a race for three seats on the Two Rivers City Council, with Incumbents Scott Stechmesser, Bill LeClair, and Tim Petri running against challengers Jeff Dahlke and Andre Robitaille.
Two candidates will also be running for judge seats, although they aren’t contested.
Manitowoc County Circuit Court Judge Mark Roher and Court of Appeals candidate Mark Gundrum are on the ballot.
Lastly, there will also be a question on the ballot asking Wisconsin voters if the voter ID law should be added into the state constitution as an amendment.
Polls open at 7:00 am this morning and close at 8:00 pm tonight.
