The four month long construction project on Highway 42 in Manitowoc County begins today.
The DOT will have crews out resurfacing the section of the highway between Waldo Boulevard in Manitowoc and the West Twin River Bridge in Two Rivers, and will also realign the intersection with Mirro Drive.
Other work will include a concrete bridge deck overlay on the West Twin River Bridge, culvert replacement and cleaning, concrete base patching, new curb ramps built to ADA standards, beam guard replacement, and pavement markings.
Traffic is being detoured onto Highway 10, County Road B, and Highway 310.
A big concern for residents is how to get to Aurora Medical Center along the construction route.
The most direct route would be to get onto highway 310, and turn south on Woodland Drive, which will take you directly to the hospital.
It is also important to note that access to all businesses along the route will be maintained throughout the project.
