The woman who allegedly failed to report child sexual abuse in Manitowoc is free on bond.
31-year-old Stephanie N. White was given a $15,000 recognizance bond on charges of Neglecting a Child Resulting in a Child Sex Offense and Neglecting a Child Resulting in Emotional Damage.
An investigation was opened after Child Protective Services contacted the Manitowoc Police Department.
It was learned that White was made aware of the abuse by the victim, but she did not report it.
Instead, she “conducted her own investigation” and determined no abuse occurred.
The police disagreed, and White was taken into custody, along with the man who allegedly abused the child.
He has yet to have a bail hearing, and thus, the charges are not official.
White was ordered to have no contact with the victim or the other suspect.
Her initial appearance was set for April 21st at 1:30 p.m.
