A slow start was too much for the Kiel girls’ soccer team to overcome, as they fell to Howards Grove 3-2.
The inexperience of the squad was on full display, as five freshmen made their first career starts, however, Head Coach Mike Pritchard says his “core of veterans” stepped up as the game progressed.
Last year’s all-star, Taavi Saeger was able to find the back of the net twice, leading the charge on the comeback attempt, but in the end, they fell just short.
Goalie Mya Langenfeld made two saves on the day as the Raiders fell to 0-1.
The squad will take a few days to iron out the kinks before they travel to the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex for a match against Winnebago Lutheran Academy on April 7th.
