
The race for Sheboygan’s Mayor ended in a definitive victory.
Incumbent Mayor Ryan Sorenson won reelection yesterday (April 1st) after securing over 2,000 more votes than challenger and former City Alder John Belanger.
Mayor Sorenson, elected to his second term in office, secured 8,843 votes compared to Belanger’s 6,332.
The Sheboygan Common Council will also feature some new faces, including in District One, the seat previously held by Belanger.
Ryan Menzer has been elected to serve District One after beating out Ryan Meyer by 400-plus votes.
Another new face on the Common Council will be Michael Close in District Three, who beat incumbent Daniel Peterson by 43 votes.
However, Grazia Parrella has resecured her seat on the council after beating out challenger Juan Perez in another closely contested race in District Seven, winning by 29 votes.
Alders Trey Mithcell and Susie Boorse also won election to the Common Council after running unopposed in Districts Nine and Five, respectively.
As for the Sheboygan Area School District, Mary Lynn Donohue beat Roger Oliver to retain her seat as the in-city representative on the board, while Allie Tasche and Denise Wittstock won seats on the school board as outside-of-the-city or at-large candidates.
