
The former leader of the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit charged with misplacing funds, will plead in his case.
Court records show that David Remiker appeared in court over the phone for a status conference.
Attorney Kevin L. Steuck said he and his client have reviewed the evidence and are awaiting a final restitution figure.
Judge Guy Dutcher, who was assigned to the case, set a plea and sentencing hearing for June 12th at 1:00 p.m.
According to the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, an internal audit was done in February last year, which “revealed that several thousand dollars of asset forfeiture funds were not properly deposited into designated accounts.”
After that, the Wisconsin Department of Justice was asked to take over the investigation.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig said at the time that the charges reflect solely the actions of one individual and not the 113 dedicated and hardworking members of the sheriff’s office.
Remiker faces one charge of misconduct in office.
