A mathlete at Kohler High School has been named a finalist in a statewide competition.
Junior Claire Brotz has been named a finalist in the Wisconsin Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Search competition for the second year in a row.
With this distinction, Brotz will be recognized at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Honors Day on May 19th. Students recognized at Honors Day are also invited to participate in the exam for the Van Vleck scholarship in Madison.
The Van Vleck scholarship awards a student with $6,000 a semester for four years and prioritizes STEM students.
In addition to being named a finalist, Brotz, and fellow Kohler High School junior Jason Tian, have been named to the Class One All-State Team for mathematics along with senior Chaz Hoell who was named All-State Second Team.
These All-State selections came after the Kohler Math Team took second place at the 2025 Wisconsin Mathematics Council High School Math Contest last month.
