The Manitowoc Public School District is voicing its appreciation to the voters for approving the maintenance referendum.
The $25 million referendum will allow the district to focus on updating several aging buildings within the district and increase energy efficiency.
Interim Superintendent Lee Thennes said he is “deeply grateful for the community’s support” and promised to “continue to work together, involving the community, our students and families, district stakeholders, and the Board of Education on a vision that will help MPSD and the greater Manitowoc community thrive for the next century.”
School Board President Chris Able echoed those sentiments, saying, “The MPSD Board will be active stewards of these funds. We will work rigorously to get the most value for every dollar, while ensuring we maintain not just our buildings but also a quality education for every student.”
Able and Thennes will be working with three new people as well, with David Bowman, Ann Holsen, and Mary Lofy-Blahnik earning seats on the board.
