Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Sheboygan’s Eb Flo Coffeehouse has become a favorite for community members and tourists alike.
Over the past few years, Eb Flo has grown from a small operation with just two employees into a large-scale, award-winning business on the South Pier.
One of those two employees was Bo, the business’s owner and manager, who spoke with SeehaferNews.com about her background and what led to her opening Eb Flo.
“I was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, and I moved here when I was 17. I was always selling food on the street in Bangkok,” she continued. “I went to school for business and I was in customer service for about five to six years. Now I’m running a coffee shop in Sheboygan.”
The growth Eb Flo has seen didn’t happen overnight, but rather can be attributed to three main points of focus for the business.
“We have three things we focus on,” Bo explained. “The first thing would be to provide great customer service, second would be to provide quality and consistency of our food and products, and the last thing we focus on is the cleanliness of the place.”
One of those quality products mentioned by Bo includes croffle, a staple at Eb Flo.
Croffle, a pastry invented in Ireland, is a hybrid of a croissant and a waffle that can be served as a savory or sweet breakfast or snack.
While it may be the product they are most known for, Bo says it is not her biggest source of pride when it comes to her business.
“I wanted to say croffle, but what I think I’m most proud of is my team,” she said with a smile. “I have a bunch of high school kids; I have a lot of young girls and without them working alongside me, we wouldn’t be what we are today.”
Eb Flo also prides itself on being a spot for a quick bite to eat just as much as it is a place for those who work from home to get out of the house.
However, it’s not just customers who have taken notice either. Earlier this year, Eb Flo was nominated by the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce for multiple awards.
They were a nominee for the Chamber’s Tourism Gem of the Year Award as well as being named a nominee and the winner of the Culinary Star of the Year Award.
