An area Republican representative is praising Wisconsin voters on the voter ID amendment.
3rd District Assemblyman Ron Tusler explained that over 75% of Manitowoc County residents and over 70% of Calumet County residents voted in favor of enshrining voter ID in the Wisconsin constitution.
Overall, 62.8%, or 1.4 million voters, favored the ID amendment, making the Badger state only the 5th in the nation to do so.
The Harrison representative said, “This win means that no matter who controls the Legislature, the Supreme Court, or the Governor’s office, Wisconsin elections will have basic integrity as we will verify our voters are registered citizens of our state.”
Tusler took a shot at Milwaukee and Dane Counties for being the only two in the state to vote mostly no on the amendment saying they are radical and out of touch.
Some Democrats have come out against voter ID laws, saying they will give the elderly and minorities a harder time voting.
