One woman who passed away at a hospital while serving time at the Taycheedah Correctional Institute was from Manitowoc.
An article from Wisconsin Public Radio reports that 36-year-old Shawnee Reed passed away on February 23rd after arriving a day before at an area hospital.
According to the WPR article, the families of Reed and 33-year-old Brittany Doescher, who also passed away while serving time in Taycheedah, said the hospital staff linked the deaths to pneumonia.
Reed was sentenced in 2023 to spend three years in prison on charges of Possession of Fentanyl and Non-Narcotics, both with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and four counts of misdemeanor bail jumping.
