The two people arrested after a Manitowoc child had to be treated at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee are still in the Manitowoc County Jail.
36-year-old Corey L. Shreeves and 30-year-old Samantha K Memmel were each given $10,000 cash bail by Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa on charges of Physical Abuse of a Child and Child Neglect.
The investigation into the couple began with a forensic interview at the Lakeshore Regional Child Advocacy Center in Saukville with staff from Children’s Hospital and a Manitowoc Police Detective.
56 images depicting the child’s injuries were submitted into evidence, and the victim recalled being struck with a phone charger, a belt, and a wooden spoon.
Shreeves tried to deflect blame onto Memmel, who did admit to striking the child.
Both were ordered to have no contact with three unnamed children or each other, to maintain absolute sobriety, and to have no possession of any controlled substances without a valid prescription.
Shreeves and Memmel are both due back in court for their initial appearances on Monday (April 14th) at 1:30 p.m.
