
Numerous Eastern Wisconsin students came home with medals from the SkillsUSA Wisconsin 2025 State Leadership and Skills Conference.
In the high school competitions, Bay Port students Emelia Erdmann, Phoenix McElroy, Derek Metzner, and Maia Virlee finished second in the Video New Production event, while fellow Pirate Briana Inda earned a silver in Advertising Design.
Tyler Strebel from Green Bay Preble was second in Diesel Equipment Technology, while classmate Mason Kanzelberger, Alejandra Rodriguez Guzman earned gold in the CNC 2-Axis Turning Programmer and Barbering events, the latter of which saw Howards Grove student Shalia Randall finish second.
Tristin Mayer of De Pere earned a silver medal in Baking and Pastry Arts.
In the college-level competitions, Autumn Robley and Johnathan DeBruin of Lakeshore Technical College earned gold medals in the Precision Machining Technology and CNC 2-Axis Turning Specialist events, while Fox Valley Technical College brought home eight total medals.
Zachary Zuleger and Alxander Bender finished second and third in Power Equipment Technology, Carmen Van Den Elzan won the Collision Damage Appraisal event, Will Lamers, Kara Diedrich, and Benjamin Switz swept the podium for Automotive Service Technology, while Carmen Can Den Elzan was second in Automotive Refinishing Technology, followed by Lance Marineau from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
Also representing NWTC were the teams of Savannah Guilette, Savannah Long, and Kaylee McFadden and Mason Baker, Teshonne Bekyir-Leuthoudom, and Riley Irvin, who earned the top two spots in Crime Scene Investigation, while Gabrielle Wilson, and Jeremy Unerfusser finished 1st and 3rd in the Criminal Justice event.
The 52nd annual event featured more than 1,750 middle, high school, and college/post-secondary students participating in over 75 skilled and technical trades competitions.
