The Wisconsin Army National Guard’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion is asking everyone to wear purple on Tuesday for its Purple Up! For Military Kids Day.
The program aims to show support and appreciation for the resilience and strength of children of military members.
April is designated as the Month of the Military Child by the Department of Defense, a time to honor the sacrifices and challenges faced by children of military parents.
These children often endure frequent relocations, separations from their loved ones during deployments, and the unique stresses that come with military life. Despite these challenges, they demonstrate remarkable resilience, adaptability, and courage.
Lt. Col. Jesse Augustine, Commander of the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion, and Manitowoc County native, says, “Wearing purple on April 15 is a simple but meaningful way to show our support for the children of military families. These young heroes face unique challenges with resilience and strength, and it’s important that we recognize their sacrifices and let them know they are valued and supported.”
