Northeastern Wisconsin Area Health Education Center (NEWAHEC) and Healthiest Manitowoc County Substance Use Prevention Coalition (HMC-SUP) will be unveiling Manitowoc’s first Public Health Vending Machine this week.
A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday (April 16th) at 621 York Street in downtown Manitowoc.
The vending machine will offer free, anonymous, around-the-clock access to life-saving harm reduction supplies, including NARCAN.
Natasha Khan of Manitowoc County Public Health and HMC-SUP co-chair tells SeehaferNews.com, “By placing these tools within reach at all times, we’re saying clearly that every life in our community is worth saving.”
Using overdose heat mapping, the coalition identified this central downtown spot for maximum accessibility, ensuring proximity to public transportation and visibility in a high-need area.
The climate-controlled design maintains the effectiveness of supplies year-round, through Wisconsin’s challenging seasons.
