A Fond du Lac man is in custody for firing a gun inside an apartment over the weekend.
The Fond du Lac Police Department received a call on Friday (April 11th) just before 8:00 p.m. from a mother who stated that her 43-year-old son was threatening to commit suicide.
The caller also stated that her son had fired a handgun multiple times in the apartment, shattering a bedroom window.
A shelter in place order was issued for those in the apartment complex, and arriving officers, along with SWAT, K9 units, and Crisis Negotiations teams, set up a perimeter.
The 43-year-old refused to engage Crisis Negotiators and escalated the situation by making threats towards his mother.
More than two hours after receiving the call, entry was made into the apartment with the utilization of an explosive breach technique.
Authorities were then able to move the mother to safety and place the Fond du Lac Man under arrest.
At this time, the investigation into the incident is in its early stages and remains ongoing.
The Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted in its response by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the City of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue.
