What started as a simple warrant arrest turned into additional charges for a Manitowoc man.
Officers were called to a bar in the 700 block of Buffalo Street on a report of a man with a known warrant drinking at the bar.
The man was known to regularly carry a handgun, so several officers responded.
The man initially was cooperative with the officers, but as they began to get near the squad car, he became “increasingly uncooperative”, stomping on an officer’s foot and calling them racial slurs.
As he was being buckled into the back of the squad car, the 23-year-old man allegedly spat in the officer’s face.
He was also uncooperative while at the Manitowoc County Jail, reportedly causing a commotion in the cell.
He was detained on charges of Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon without a Permit, Carrying a Handgun where Alcohol is Sold or Consumed, Discharge of Bodily Fluid at a Public Safety Worker, and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
