A Manitowoc man is facing charges after injuring a police officer.
The Manitowoc Police Department was called just after 5:00 p.m. Saturday (April 12th) on a report of three vehicles racing near downtown Manitowoc.
The caller reported that they were nearly struck by one of the vehicles involved.
The responding officer located one of the suspect vehicles and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
However, the driver continued along North 8th Street, eventually pulling into a driveway in the 1300 block.
The 18-year-old male driver then exited the vehicle and began unlocking the door to the residence, despite instructions to stop.
The officer grabbed the suspect, and the duo fell backwards, causing an unspecified injury to the officer.
The suspect was able to break free from the officer and entered the home, locking himself inside.
His mother was contacted, and she came home, eventually convincing the man to exit the home.
He was then taken into custody on charges of Fleeing or Eluding an Officer as a Vehicle Operator and Resisting an Officer Causing a Soft Tissue Injury.
