John M. Arkens, age 76, longtime town of Mishicot resident, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, April 10, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Arkens; his four children & grandchildren: Craig (Diane) Arkens of Manitowoc, Curt (Elizabeth) Arkens of Mishicot and their children: Wyatt, Carson, and Porter; Tina (Tim) Vos of Oshkosh; Kate (Joe) Beckwith of Cedarburg and their children: Miles, Olivia, and (baby due in May). He is further survived by his pal “Minnie”; one brother & sister-in-law, Tom (Laurie) Arkens; and in-laws: Steve (Jean) Bohacek, and Paul Bertler, all of Mishicot; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Jerry Arkens; infant sister, Anne; and his father & mother-in-law, Ralph and Helen Bertler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Christian Raj, with burial at a later date. Military graveside honors will be held at the church immediately following the mass by members of VFW Post #7753 of Mishicot.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Cross Catholic Church Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Tuesday evening visitation.
