Veterans from around Manitowoc County converged on the Golf Course at Branch River to celebrate the raising of the American flag for the first time in three years.
The flag pole outside the clubhouse remained empty for years due to a problem with the rope system.
However, the problem was fixed, and the joint color guard of American Legion Post 165 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 1248, both of Two Rivers, came together to present and hoist the flag during a ceremony Saturday morning (April 12th).
The celebration also contained comments from Post 165 Commander Kurt Carlson and Manitowoc County American Legion Commander, Nancy Schnell Rivera, and the raising of the flag being conducted by Chris Hultgren, Course Maintenance Supervisor, his son, Ryder, and US Navy Veteran, Christian De Kok.
Following the ceremony, the golf course held a brat fry, with proceeds benefiting Old Glory Honor Flight.
