The Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) has highlighted a student’s experience in a districtwide program.
Karol Bonilla, a senior at Sheboygan South High School, has participated in the Red Raider Manufacturing program since her freshman year.
Red Raider Manufacturing is a program open to all SASD high school students that is a collaborative effort to better prepare students for college and careers in an effort to provide more skilled workers to local manufacturers.
Bonilla is currently enrolled in metals fabrication, woods production, and electricity, electronics, and automation classes as part of the program.
Addressing her favorite thing about her Red Raider Manufacturing experience, she said, “I really enjoyed the hands-on aspect of the Tech Ed department. Not only does it encourage students to go at the pace that they need, but it also helps them branch off and make their own discoveries.”
After graduating from Sheboygan South, Bonilla plans to attend UW-Green Bay to pursue a degree in information technology.
Currently, Red Raider Manufacturing has local partnerships with area companies such as Kohler, Johnsonville, and The Muth Family of Sheboygan.
