Another dramatic finish for the Manitowoc Lincoln Shipbuilders baseball team gives them their fourth win of the year as they defeat the Denmark Vikings in walk-off fashion, 5-4, yesterday.
It was back and forth at first with Denmark getting the scoring started in the top of the first inning with Caden Kersten driving in a run on a single before Lincoln’s Benson Dickrell gave the Ships a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first on a double.
In the top of the third, the Vikings take the lead back after Ozzie Enz singles and a wild pitch draws in a run apiece.
The Ships bats woke up again in the sixth inning with Seth Gibeault hitting a single down the left field line, which caused a tie game.
In extra innings, the Ships were down 4-3, but a fielder’s choice hit by Gibeault in the bottom of the inning allowed two runs to score.
For Lincoln, Gabe Eichmann earned the win on the mound, and while he allowed three hits and one run over 2 1/3 innings, he struck out two and walked five.
Nick Minikel pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief for the Shipbuilders while allowing four hits and two runs, but he struck out three batters.
Manitowoc Lincoln is 4-0 on the season.
They have another FRCC contest this afternoon at home against the Ashwaubenon Jaguars.
