The COVID-19 vaccination numbers reported yesterday (April 22nd) by the Manitowoc County Health Department continued to show a slowing of the number of people getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
While 884 shots were administered, only 132 of those were first-time patients. Only 398 people received their first dose this week, or an average of 99 per day. Compare that to the average for the rest of the month, where 423.75 people received their first dose per day.
In total, 54,357 shots have been given, with 31,537 of those going into the arms of first-time patients.
Also, 12 new cases of the virus were reported yesterday, which is the highest that number has been all month. A total of 7,447 cases have been confirmed since the start of the pandemic, with 69 people dying in the County, a number that remained unchanged.
In some good news, the number of people hospitalized in the area for COVID fell by 5 back down to 24.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan, one more person has died from the virus. According to the Division of Public Health, this individual was in the 70 to 79-year-old age group and brings the death toll up to 136.
Also, five new cases were reported, along with 11 recoveries. This brings their pandemic total sup to 13,595 confirmed cases, 13,302 recoveries, and 157 cases remain active.
