The experts may be over-thinking this situation.
Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst and the team’s front office have been consistent in saying Aaron Rodgers will be the starting quarterback for the “foreseeable future.”
Gutekunst said it again in a Monday pre-draft meeting with reporters.
The 37-year-old Rodgers threw 48 touchdown passes last season, with only five interceptions. That was good for his third N-F-L Most Valuable Player award.
Rodgers’ cap number for this season is $37.2 million, but a long-term extension could push that money into future years.
Any change to Rodgers’ contract would suggest he will be Green Bay’s quarterback past 2021.
