Eau Claire is set to host its first high school state championship event in 44 years when the 2021 alternate fall season girls team tennis competition comes to the city this weekend.
The W-I-A-A event will be held at the John and Fay Menard Y-M-C-A Tennis Center Saturday.
The last state title event was the 1977 Division 4 state football championship game won by Osseo-Fairchild over Stanley-Boyd 14-0.
Eau Claire also hosted nine spring baseball championships between 1958 and 1970 at its Carson Park.
There will be no general admission to this weekend’s games, but participants are being allowed to bring four spectators each.
