Suddenly, the big question on the first day of the 2021 N-F-L Draft switched from who will the Packers pick to what quarterback will take the first snap of the season.
Multiple sources say future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay. Others say the Packers are adamant they won’t trade him and have turned down at least one deal offered by the 49ers.
NFL.com is reporting Rodgers’ response to that is to say he won’t play in Green Bay.
The 37-year-old reigning M-V-P has reportedly said he wants a trade to San Francisco, Las Vegas, or Denver, and Pro Football Talk reports that trade could come as soon as this weekend.
No N-F-L Most Valuable Player has ever been traded in the off-season after winning the award.
Meanwhile, general manager Brian Gutekunst drafted one of the fastest college football prospects in the first round of Thursday’s draft.
For the first time in three years, Gutekunst didn’t trade up. Instead, he took Georgia cornerback Eric Stokes with the 29th pick.
Stokes has good size at six-one and 194 pounds, but it’s his 40-yard time of 4.25 seconds that gets a lot of attention.
Green Bay passed on several tempting wide receiver prospects – like Ole Miss slot receiver Elijah Moore.
The Packers have two picks tonight (April 30th) in the second and third rounds of the 2021 N-F-L Draft.
