New Milwaukee starter Eric Lauer pitched five shutout innings, Travis Shaw hit a homer, and the Brewers edged the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday 2-1.
The Dodgers have lost eight out of their last 11 games.
Lauer had an ugly 13.09 earned run average in four games last season after coming over in a trade from San Diego. The victory over the Dodgers was his first since September of 2019.
Milwaukee won despite being held to four hits by Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer in a complete game.
Shaw’s homer was his fourth and he leads Milwaukee with 19 runs batter in.
Just before the game, the Brewers placed hard-throwing right-hander Corbin Burnes on the injured list. The team didn’t specify what the problem might be.
Freddy Peralta starts tonight against the Dodgers.
