Raymond E. Luisier, age 93, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the Villas at Felician Village in Manitowoc.
Ray was born on August 28, 1927 in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Alvin and Esther Neinas Luisier. Ray attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1946. He then enlisted in the United States Army serving his country overseas in the Pacific Theatre. Ray proudly ran the regimental ice cream plant at his military base. He was honorably discharge two years later. He then returned to Manitowoc and on February 4, 1950 he married Dolores Meihsner at First German Ev. Lutheran Church. After their marriage, together they started Luisier Plumbing in Manitowoc. Ray retired in 1992 when he sold his business to his son Dan Luisier and Paul Roeckle. Ray was a lifelong member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed, married, sang in the church choir, served as an usher, elected President of the congregation for several terms and served many years on the church council and school committees. Ray was also a member of the Manitowoc Noon Optimist Club along with a member and past President of the Wisconsin Masters Plumbers Association. He enjoyed deer hunting in the Crivitz area since 1948 with his father and uncles and continued through the 2019 deer hunting season enjoying time with his sons, grandchildren along with other family members. Ray was also a longtime season ticket holder with the Green Bay Packers attending many games for years. He also belonged to many local golf leagues over the years where he made a lot of great friends. Ray also enjoyed downhill skiing which he started when he was in his 40’s with his good friend Dick Stolz. He continued skiing throughout the years with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren until his 90th birthday.
He is survived by five children, James B. Luisier, Burton, MI, David (Stacy) Luisier, Fort Atkinson, Jennifer Martin, Oconomowoc, Lindy (Tom) Backus, Manitowoc, and Daniel (Ann) Luisier, Manitowoc; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Kathleen (Robert) Hale, Oak Park, IL; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Esther Luisier, his first wife, Dolores Luisier, 2nd wife, Margaret Urbanek, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Clifford Luisier and Alvin and his wife Dorothe Luisier Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at First German Ev. Lutheran Church on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. The visitation will continue Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc with military graveside rites accorded the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #731. There will be a luncheon following the services at the cemetery for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
