A grand slam by Phillies shortstop Didi Gregorius highlighted a five-run first inning and Philadelphia was able to hold on for a 5-4 victory Wednesday.
Gregorius hit the big fly off of Milwaukee starter and loser Freddy Peralta.
Rookie Tyrone Taylor hit his second pinch-hit home run of the season in the fifth inning with two on. Avisail Garcia went four-for-four.
The defeat leaves the Brewers one game behind the Cardinals in the National League Central Division standings.
