So much for retirement.
Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez is reportedly going to take a position with the Big Ten as a liaison between conference decision-makers and coaches.
He had announced his retirement from U-W Athletics earlier this year and his final day on that job is June 30th.
His role inside the league office will be to ensure coaches’ voices are heard when decisions are made.
A report from the Sports Business Journal says, “When Alvarez talks, others listen.”
He restored the Badgers football program in the 1990s and continued its growth as athletic director.
A start date for his new position hasn’t been reported although the 74-year-old is expected to start later this summer.
