The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is correcting reports that a jail inmate escaped Tuesday.
Officials at Marquette University sent an alert at about 6:00 p-m saying an escaped prisoner had been seen near the campus.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office says a man had been arrested on a retail theft warrant from another jurisdiction.
After he changed into a jail uniform, he was taken to Aurora Sinai Medical Center for medical clearance.
While that was going on, the other police department said it was no longer seeking the man’s transfer.
He was still wearing the jail uniform at about 5:00 p-m when he left the hospital walking down the sidewalk not far from the Marquette campus.
