Paul W. Skarvan, age 98, of Manitowoc, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 12, 2021 at River’s Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.
Paul was born on February 10, 1923 in town of Kossuth, son of the late Fred and Clara (Stangel) Skarvan. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy from September 1943 until April 1946 reaching the rank of Seaman First Class. On September 13, 1952 he married the former Marian E. Orth at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Paul and Marian worked on the family farm in the town of Kossuth. The couple moved to Kellnersville and later to Manitowoc. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Kubale-O’Connell VFW Post #6179 in Kellnersville. Paul enjoyed crafts, especially ceramics, gardening and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife: Marian Skarvan, Manitowoc; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Francis Orth, Manitowoc, John (Carolyn) Orth, Wisconsin Rapids, Rita Mae Orth, Reedsville, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Clara Skarvan; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Milton (Mariece) Skarvan, Cyril (Velma) Skarvan, Fred (Jean) Skarvan; one sister: Evangeline Skarvan and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Jason Blahnik will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at the Knollwood Memorial Park, Manitowoc. Military Honors will be accorded by Kubale-O’Connell VFW Post #6179 at the cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to keep everyone safe, the family requests that everyone please wear a facemask and practice social distancing.
