The Centers For Disease Control is easing restrictions on those who have completed their COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Manitowoc County Health Officer Stephanie Lambert says the CDC has learned three important things during the vaccine allocation that are slowly allowing for a return to normalcy.
“One-vaccines are working in the real world with studies showing that they are over 90 percent effective. Two vaccines are proving to be effective against the circulating variance and three we now know that if you are vaccinated you are less likely to spread the virus.”
Lambert says that vaccinated people put very little risk to themselves or others by taking off their masks and resuming “normal activities.”
“However if you are not vaccinated and choose not to wear a mask you are putting yourself and others at risk. Nothing has changed. You should be wearing masks and socially distancing.”
Manitowoc County’s top health official adds “If you’re fully vaccinated take a deep breath. You’ve made it! For those who haven’t, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible, and please keep wearing a mask to protect yourself and others around you.”
As of Tuesday, slightly more than 43 percent of Manitowoc County residents have received at least a single dose of the COVID 19 vaccine.
